How to be a Responsible Visitor

Wherever we go and whatever we do, we have an impact. By making positive choices you can help us care for  West Cornwall and make that impact as positive as possible.

1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. You can start by refusing packaging and plastics bags , and by using the recycling banks you’ll see in most places around West Cornwall. And if you can recycle where you’re staying – please do.

2. Stay Local, Eat Local, Buy Local, See Local. Support local producers and services and discover what West Cornwall can offer, this will benefit local communities. Visit farmers markets, farm shops, village stores, pubs and cafes. Go and immerse yourself in some of the most amazing  local crafts fairs  you'll find all year round- and don't forget that here  food and drink are just fantastic.

3. Get out of the car! Walking, cycling and riding are great ways to see the area and will reduce traffic. Use public transport as an alternative for traveling, but try exploring near to where you are staying - you will discover some fantastic places to see right on your doorstep...just ask!

4. Chill Out - Switch Off! enjoy the clear night sky and all his stars in West Cornwall! Help us reduce light pollution, energy use and CO2 emissions by switching off lights and all those standby buttons when you don’t
need them. Help us reduce water consumption by using just the water you need; and then sit back ....and enjoy the view.

5. Follow the Countryside Code  it reminds us all to protect and respect the countryside. Look after flora and local wildlife; take your litter with you; leave gates as you find them; keep pets under close control; and consider other people and users when visiting the countryside.

  And enjoy West Cornwall......
